I just discovered Ich on a few of my platties. The tank is a 90 gallon stocked with 6 platties and 12 zebra danios. I found several babies in the tank today also.

Should I remove the ones I see ich on OR do I need to treat the entire tank (it is hard to inspect the danios)?

What would be the best treatment for platties and danios?

Will treatment hurt the babies?

I always used Rid ich but that was years ago and I dont know if would hurt your babies so someone else can probably answer this question better.

Unfortunately, you need to treat the whole tank. Ich has life cycles, some of which involves it residing in the gravel. You will need to medicate and bring your temp up to speed up the life cycle. You will also need to make sure and vacuum your gravel thoroughly with each water change.

Furthermore, be sure to follow the instructions of the medication EXACTLY as it states. What happens many times is people medicate and see the white spots go away and assume the Ich is gone, only for it to come back later. This is because the Ich was at a different stage in its life cycle which doesn't appear on the fish. Medicating to the length according to the instructions will ensure that the Ich is gone for good. That in combination with a good gravel cleaning will get you back on track.

Unfortunately, I don't know how all of this will impact your fry.

I do not use meds for ich treatment. Do a search for temperature cure for ich. I have used the temp only and temp/salt cure on three of my tanks (now I QT all fish a minimum of 1 month) and have had no signs of ich since. I typically have not used meds for any issues in my tanks. At first sign of a problem I begin daily WC's (or two weekly minimum) raise the temp a bit (except for in the case of columnarus on my rainbows) add some salt and lower water level or add a bubbler to increase oxygen. As for the columnarus on the 'bows I lowered the temp due to the fact that columnarus florishes in warmer temps an dthe bows can handle cooler temps.
