before i get started...i use the term "collection" very losely. these snakes were captured photographed and released on-site.
my g/f and i decided to do a little rattlesnake "hunt" over the weekend and we ended up doing pretty well. we found a nice male/female pair of "yellow phase" Timber Rattlesnakes that were both right around the 40" mark. here are a bunch of pics...
it is also important to note that i have a collection permit issued through the PA Fish & Boat commision and have been working with these snakes for over 7 years.

thanks for the comments everyone!
no, i have never been bitten by a rattlesnake YET and i have captured and released over 100 now. i treat every one with the same caution and respect (knowing exactly what the consequences will be) if i screw up. Rattlesnakes are my favorite animals and i just wanted to share some of them with you all. it seems like people are so quick to kill these awesome animals and i just wanted to show you guys them in their natural habitat. thanks again for commenting!

That looks so fun.
The most poisonous snakes I've delt with are some poisonous water snakes in oklahoma. The people we fish with don't want them by their ponds, so we shoot them.

watersnakes are not poisonous, but they do sometimes carry bacteria that can get you pretty sick. i have been bitten by quite a few watersnakes and have yet to get sick though.

the cottonmouth, aka water moccasin, lives in oklahoma and is a potentially deadly pit viper. Regular water snakes aren't venomous though

they are awesome pics!!!!!! that must be so cool knowing how to catch and handle venomous snakes. we have the native tiger snake sometimes inhabit our yard, id love to know how to catch them and release them elsewhere, instead i gotta pay $50 for a snake catcher to come do it for me lol

sooo true....... it was an australian snake i was referencing :hmm3grin2orange:
it is winter at the moment so yes we get to venture outdoors again. this year we even bought a bbq (a first for us my mum hates the summer, for the snakes and the flies!). so bring on the barbie dinners this winter...... and maybe a few (cases of) beer!!!!!!

the water Moccasin is MUCH different than the common water snake...as you seem well aware.

i would love to catch a Tiger snake some day, but i have a feeling its going to be a while before i make my way to australia (although it is in the plans).

I would love to visit Australia, but the snakes would scare me half to death. Are they everywhere? sorry to sound dumb --
