Peas and Cichlids

I went out and bought some peas today and gave my cichlids a few -- I think they actually bowed to me!! I might have even seen a smile or two!! :hmm3grin2orange: They were happy campers!! I did not realize they liked peas!! Another tidbit I learned here!! I will be giving them this treat once or twice a week ---
They normally come right to the tank when they see me open the cabinet where I keep their food and a feeding frenzy begins!! But, after the peas I think I heard them all saying my name over and over!!!!thumbs2:

giving them the peas up to twice a week is ok for them I am assuming -- could I do more often??

garden peas(tinned or fresh) steam them then take of the shell and then mush then up

My fish all enjoy peas as well... the Rams also Bolivian :19: I buy the big frozen bags of peas - boil them - then squeeze gently on the pea so the inside pops out of the shell. I don't mush mine though I just throw the full two halfs that come out of the shell in and watch them disapear very quickly :hmm3grin2orange:

Microwave tends to be a vitamin killer - if you buy the frozen you can also just let them sit until they are defrosted without boiling them at all :c2:

i let them unthaw and gave them to my gang -- now when I walk by they all come to the front and wait for me to put more in!!! I hear them chanting Peas Peas Peas!! LOL

my fish love them too. i just get the frozen ones, wait till they defrost, them shell them, and feed. :18:

I defrost them in some tank water, shell them, pulverize them with my iron grip and feed them raw.
