HI -- me again!! :c12:
I have been reading alot on here about feeding cichlids peas -- must admit I haven't heard that before. I have heard about giving them romain lettuce and do that every so often and they go wild!!
So if I wanted to give them peas once in awhile -- how would I go about it?
thanks in advance for answering this question!!
:1luvu: I just love this forum -- I have learned more in the last few days then I have the last few months doing all my research again!!
thanks everyone!!!

Really easy, and a good treat to give any fish occasionally as a treat..

Just throw them right in.. :)

For other fish like otos it's good to crush them a bit till the skin splits, but cichlids will have no problems..

Helps with digestion (as does fasting the fish for at least one day of the week)..

You can even use frozen peas and they will thaw in the water..

But fresh peas are good..

Just make sure they aren't rock hard when you through them in, if you use frozen peas..

Let them sit out sit a bit, at least..

Fresh peas will be more nutritious, of course..

Oh, and there's also canned peas, but those would be the least nutritious of the 3..

I hate canned peas so my guys won't get those!! LOL Fresh and frozen are my favorites - so the guys will be getting that as a treat every so often!!

I love feeding peas to my cichlids. At first everyone grabs there own pea, but soon after the tank splits into two groups. Each group tries to get all the peas piled up in THEIR corner of the tank. So eventually all the peas will be in one corner and you'll see a little spy heading over to steal them back!!! Pretty entertaining....
