Eartheaters

Anyone keep them? I met a local guy who keeps a couple and they look very nice, still small at the moment but they get 10"+. He doesn't know exactly what specie but he told me to look up eartheater or geophagus. Looking for more info and compatibility on them. Planning for a bigger tank.

They look alot like rams, that all i know, lol. I think most are aggressive,

Search on google for Geophagus, Gymnogeophagus, and geophagines.

I have a Geophagus Jurapari. Very peaceful. Spends his day going thru substrate putting it in his mouth, swishing it around and then spitting it back out, lol. He's fun to watch.
Great fish. I'd recommend one. They get a lot more colorful as they get older too.
