Lost one of my cories today, I came home from work, and seen him laying on his side gasping like, he couldn't swim at all, his tail looked rough and he didn't have any barbels. I put him to sleep the cold way letting him rest now. It was one of my newest ones. All the parameters are correct, and good, I do about a 20% water change a week. I'm guessing it's just one of those things.

Sorry to hear that...

I had a cory go like that a year ago, but he went quicker - died overnight in my quarantine tank. My LFS suggested it might be an internal organ failure due to bad handling and improper feeding during shipping, which is likely. I bought it at Petco, and they're not all that great at maintaining living conditions...

Sounds like he was just in bad shape from the get-go..

How did he look at the lfs?

Did you drip acclimatize him?

I've had him a few weeks, he looked fine, I use the cup by cup method.

Possible your pleco got a hold of him.

I don't know, I didn't see any external injuries other than the tail fin.
