I saw on the website the other day that they had the Rena xp2 for $79.00. Woo! So I went into the store, and it was $139! I was sad. Went home, looked at the page again, and saw that I wasn't imagining things, called the store and asked if they price matched the website. They do! I went back to the store and got the filter, AND a 50 Python system. The Python was $65 in the store, and only $38 on the website. They matched both.
AND the filter medium was cheaper too. So I got the 50 python, an xP2, an ammo zorb pouch, the biochem stars, and 2 Otos for $139.

So yeah. MUCH cheaper. I feel guilty for not shopping at my LFS, but man. THat's a lot of money without the difference.

Doh! Just checked my reciept, and i've also got a $20 rebate coming on the filter from the website as well.
So I really got the filter for $59.00, opposed to $139 in the store.

Interesting. I wonder what else is cheaper online. I'm going to have a look at that.

If I remember correctly, Petsmart will match ANY price, online or other stores (possibly not sale prices).

That should not be, I worked at Petsmart for a couple months and if I remember right it was Petsmart policy.

Wow. I shop their website all the time and didn't know of a difference since no stores are in this area. Good job. Price checking and asking does make a difference.

I used to be the same way. I worked there and gained a lot of respect for the company. I still wouldn't highly suggest it to anyone, but I have been able to pick out individuals with great results. And their guarantee helps ease any hesitation (14-day gurantee on livestock). Wednesday I bought 2 rubberlip plecos and 2 $20 angelicus botias. They are also the only place in the area I have found golden wonder killies.

Thanks for the tip Ivana....I regularly look at the website, but haven't ordered anything, and the prices in the store are higher. Working as a bartender I get money every couple of days instead of one large chunk every 2 weeks, so I have a tendency to buy in small quantities frequently rather than order everything I will need for 2 weeks time. Now, knowing they will pricematch I can just print out what I plan to buy and get the online price anyway :)

I had heard about Petsmart doing that. I always see the lower prices online, but with shipping, sometimes it ends up being the same anyway.

Hmmm, it may be time for another tank....LOL

yeah, too late. haha! Aside from my 45, I also have a 5 with just some plants in it right now (getting a betta once I get back from vacation), and I'm getting a 29 gallon in the spring. I'd also like a 15-20 gallon, and a huge 100 gallon! :)

I only get my fish from my LFS, because i've got the utmost faith in them. Th eone and only fish i've gotten from petsmart in the last 6 months had cotton fungus the next day. Eh. I'll get the expensive stuff at petsmart, and everything else at my local store 3 blocks away :)

My golden wonder died while I was in FL. Loaches must have eaten him as he was totally gone from the aquarium but he'd been ill when I left.
