OK, I've been told that my 30 gallon was over stocked, now that I had to add more to it, due to the failure of my 10 gallon. What would you all recommend doing until I can get another tank, in a month or two.

The tank is a 30 gallon, non planted, with lots of hiding places, a whisper 40 and another 10 gallon power filter (off the broken 10 gal).

Its just a suggestion but why dont u switch the occupants in the 30 gal with the 55?.......and then have more in the 55:hmm3grin2orange:

goldfish are cold water fish, the rest of your fish are tropical. they really shouldnt be housed together.

also i agree that you could move some/all of the fish in the 30 gal to the 55gal

I'm afraid that the fish in the 30 would eat my fry. And the gold fish came with the tank, I figured he would die, but he's doing great.

you could separate the fry in a different container and then take the 30gal fish out and then put them in the 55 and then put the fry and what ever else you want in the 30

The goldfish is whats really killing you there, if you can find a suitable tank for him you should be okay

That's an idea!!

But is there anything I can do to keep the fish in the 30, I was planning on getting cherry shrimp for the 55.

what would be the difference between the 30 and 55 for the cherry shrimp? or when u get your new 10 gallon you can make it a shrimp tank

yup cherry shrimp do fine with almost no space, you can keep hundreds in a 10gallon

Yeah, I have to talk to the GF too, the 55 is her tank.

moving to 55 is the best thing you can do at the moment. But for now, you should regularly check your water chemistry in the tank.
And another idea, how about using a 40L + tupperware? They're usually very durable, safe, cheap and easy to find. I had success with them during breeding, temporary housing, and during quarantine. I cant find a picture of these tupperware at the moment >_<, but i think u know what im talking about.

ur 30 gallon is a little overstock. As suggested by most people, take out the goldfish imo.

How about this set up, even though I don't really want to move my gold fish, but if it would be best then I guess I can.
