Hey everyone. I recently got a green terror and bought some chichlid essentials too. However, it says its for african chichlids so I didn't use it. My question is: will this be benefitial for the green terror? If not, what kind of supplements should i use for a green terror, if any?

Also, the green terror has not been eating any of the chichlid sticks/flakes i've been putting into the tank. However, he did eat all of the blood worms. How can I get him to vary his diet? Should i just stop feeing him worms until he starts eating the sticks/flakes? Right now the sticks float and he doesn't even go to the surface to get them! thanks everyone

I would try sinking pellets. He's going to like grabbing the pellets as they sink. They prefer to eat that way vs coming to the top for their food. I'd skip the flakes.
What kind of supplements?

I agree. Pellets are a good option. Just make sure you allow them to soak for a few minutes before feeding. You don't want any intestinal problems. A "Large" flake is offered and my Green Terrors did fine on them. Be careful with the bloodworms. They can carry hidden bacteria and parasites. Even if the package says "Safe" it is not always the case. Feed them to your Green Terror moderately. Brine Shrimp or Mysis Shrimp would be a better choice.

The sinking pellets are about the most basic way to easily get them used to eating variety foods. When he starts to go to the top when you are dropping the sinking pellets then he should be ready in a bout 3 days to accept floating foods. Also you can mix the foods up. Holding off the blood worms is like taking a bottle from a baby once you give him the other food he'll get attached and everything else like blood worms will become a treat like it's supposed to.

how bout frozen bloodworm ? those are very safe and nutritious at the same time. I had a similar problem with my GT as well, my method was to fast for 3-5 days then feed them the pellets.
I'm pretty sure you don't need any additional supplements for your green terror. Feed live blackworm once a week should be nice, avoid feeder fish.
Hope this helps

thats what I fed him. Frozen bloodworms. I didn't mean live ones. I thought feeder minnows were rather safe. Just not goldfish.

I have 2 GT's a male and female, i started with Cichlid flakes and sinking wardley pellets, and gave them frozen bloodworms (they love them, obviously) about once or twice a week.

I have stopped using wardley and went to Hikari Cichlid Gold sinking pellets, mini. And they have been eating them. I am trying to move away from flake food.

If you feed them live food too much like blood worms it will make them more agressive in nature.

Hikari or New Life Spectrum, im sure someone on here will plug that cause im pretty sure this forum owns stock in the company (wink).

my GT's love frozen green peas, just peal the skin off then drop em in if the gt's are small break in half, or squish. I feed green peas to my guppies and rosy barb they love em.
