My snail hasn't...

moved for about 4 days now.
He was hanging on a fake rock ornament and when i lifted it, he dropped straight off.
Now that he is on the deck, the oranda seem intent on having a go at the shell entrance. Was some kind of white stuff there.
He's dead isn't he?

sounds like it, he may have starved to death, they are eating machines. Did he have a lot of algae to eat or did you feed him often?

When you have snails you should attach a piece of lettuce daily to a rock or object. They love it and eat almost continiously. They are very interesting characters. Mine climb the tank to the top and do a freefall to the bottom every now and then.

Not necessarily. If they get picked on or don't get fed as often as they want, they will hibernate. The only way to tell if he's dead is to pick him up and smell him. If he's dead he will have a very strong unpleasant smell. If not, he's just hiding:)

Ahh lettuce i never thought of that.
The tank had plenty of algae in it tbh. All over the rocks and pebbles.
Inside the shell is full of bits anyway - i picked him up and held him to the light.
So he has gone to the great aquarium in the sky.

Will pick up another tomorrow i think. Lettuce leaves....

sorry bout the loss of the snail henry. lettuce, the greener areas of the leaves, thin cucumber slices, zucchini, they love most green veggies.

Yup,that stench is unmistakable.I left one dead for a week,what a mistake.

I watched my shrimp go to town on one once, flipped over a dead one a feasted like it was the end of the world, i think every shrimp in the tank was on it, it was gone in a couple hours.

You are very lucky to have shrimps. I have been trying to get shrimps and were told by the petshops they are blacklisted in our area. They are interesting creatures.
