I voted good for tank. They can be good just don't let them get out of hand. They can be a great gage for the health of the tank. If they are starting to explode then there is too much for them to eat.

i kinda like them, mostly bc they stay out of sight a lot, and keep the top layer of my substrate gently turned and super clean. I credit them with helping my plants grow well.

Where can you find them?

Most fish shops will have them in there tanks whether they want them or not, especially if they sell live plants. With live plants is how most of us end up with them.

So are they the pond snails you talk about on here.

No,these guys are just little, under an inch normally smaller. They live in the substrate and if you have a normal population you will seldom see them during the day. They are generally thought of as beneficial because they keep the strate aerated and they are fair cleaners of xtra food. They do not damage plants.I have never had pond snails, but I have had mystery snails.

try 5-6. That's how many I dumped on my buddy, and his tank exploded! lets just say he invested in a clown loach a few months later. He's also got bigger fish, more waste, and his tank isnt kept as clean as mine, so that probably had a lot to do with it.

I bought 2 yoyos and an angelicus loach, and they wouldnt touch them, just the other pesty kinds! I watch them breeze right over them. They're numbers have dwindled tho, but i think thats because i doubled the number of bottom feeders in the tank? havent been finding empty shells. . .

I don't like snails at all, I know some of them are good for the tank but I keep my snail death squad on call at all times. When I see snails in a tank in go the clown loaches for a few days.
