Can I use a 150w heater in my 15 gallon tank?

Yes, but keep a good eye on the tank temperature for the first 24 hours...150 watts is more grunt than necessary, so you may be able to keep it on a lower setting but still have your tank sitting on 24 degrees centigrade...

A bigger heater will got hot faster then a smaller one, because of that you may have difficulty's keeping your tank at an even temp.It may also be dangerous to your fish because of the higher heat around the heater itself.Through larger fish shops and good mail order houses water heater are very cheap and it would be a good idea to have a properly sized unit.

I had a 100w on my 10g. . . no good. kept the temp too high, couldnt get it below 80. Besides, a heater that big is pretty bulky for the size of the aquarium.
