Well, I woke up yesterday (sunday) morning to see Herbie, My starry night pleco, floating. :( I just saw him the night before on the plant, but he is always on that same plant and like never moves. He actually just swam off of the plant friday night and then he was back on there all day saturday till I found him sunday morning. :( Like I said though, he would never get off the plant to eat or anything ever since I bought him. I would even go as far as dropping food into the plant he would sit on to make sure there was something right in his path for him to eat. When I pulled him out of the tank though, he was really skinny. :( I think he may have starved to death, but I just dont know. My other pleco is fine and my oscars are the same. Anyone ever have this happen??

Pretty much same thing with my bristlenose. It hardly ever moved and I never saw it eat, then it got some wounds with fungus and it was all just too much and he died. I'm pretty sure he had some issues right from the start tho, some are just weak from birth, or from being transported and stressed at the store etc. And once they reach a certain level of starvation, they can't come back no matter how much they eat.

I am sorry about your loss. Maybe he was under stress? I had a Betta that also did not want to eat or move around, after stress treatment she came right.
I know how you feel, one get very connected and attached to your fish.

I would feed algae wafers, sinking pellets, and then my BN cleans and eats everything just about....but Herbie didnt. and actually after reading some of the responses here, he really never came out to eat since I got him. He was out and about in the beginning, but once he found a plant that he liked, it was over. Thats where he stayed. I just figured he was eating at night or something. But also thinking back to the store, he was the one on the rock while all the others were on the glass or rocks or swimming back and forth. So I wonder if that was a factor in his behavior.
