Not speechless but ticked off. The US needs refineries so we can use our own oil but with so many tree-huggers and environmentalists, we are stuck getting our oil from overseas. They could raise it to $500 a barrel and there's not a thing we could do about it. Prices are set on supply and demand. We demand, they supply.
Building refineries would put a whole lot of unemployed back to work again and free us up from some of those oil prices but here we have Alaska, with thousands of miles of wasteland not used for anything but still no refiners can be built there because of the tree huggers. Same thing in other area's.

I have no complaints about gas prices. I drive an '80s V8 Lincoln, and am technically unemployed. People everywhere else are paying more than me, so I can't say anything. It still costs me less than 60 bucks to fill up, and I average 20mpg, 26 on the highway - no complaints here.

i'm pissed. filled up my bike and for the first time ever it cost me over $10 to fill it up. and that was a couple weeks ago before prices rose again. now we're sitting at $3.74.9 here...outrageous. my monte carlo runs mid grade and gets under 20mpg city and barely 20mpg highway. my v8 camaro prolly gets better mileage although it uses premium which...well i don't even know what that costs right now.

I feel that the gas prices are fine. It is pretty amazing that we can get it so cheap considering all the refining processes that take place.
Hell, it is still way cheaper than a gallon of milk.

A darned 1,52 € for a lousy liter of gas....

We should stop taxing the oil companies so much. If they didnt have to pay so much taxes, then they could lower prices and still make a profit. They have it so high now so they can still be making a profit on top of paying the taxes.
here in england the price is silly your looking at least £1.00 per litre
the tax is rediculas, the companies eg bp are making hundreds of millions profit

My friends' band is putting on a show in a few weeks and their flier is a guy holding a gas nozzle to his head as if he's going to shoot himself and it reads, "What's cheaper than gas? 3 BANDS, 5 BUCKS"
I think that image would be bad ass in a political cartoon.

as long as people are paying for it, and there are no riots in washington, why stop price gouging? Heck, these guys have to make their billions so they can food on the table too ya know . . .:frog34:

Yep that's what ticks me off... Too busy exporting our gas and oil to everyone else and still paying an arm and a leg to fill up.

The day I bought my new truck, gas went up to $1.31 per lt lol.
Hopefully Saskatchewan is smarter than our neighbour to the west, actually charge a decent dollar amount when they sell it instead of almost giving it away to the south and builds some refineries when they start to develop the tar sands to the north.

Does matter how many wells we have. If we haven't the refineries to process it, the wells get capped off and the oil sit's there.

It is really scary that one thing (gas) can and will monopolize everything. And our government is letting it happen. It makes you wonder about food prices, getting to work, school buses, mail, etc:.I just saw on tv tonight in Egypt they are lined up on the streets actually fighting over bread.
Here we are paying through the nose for gas and yet the gas and oil companies are making record profits. Hmmmm.
This pricing actually serves us right. Decades not researching alternative fuel sources when we know that fossil fuels are non-renewable. To say "we didn't see this coming" or "we didn't know when it would happen" is a farce. We are now trying desperately to react to this situation when, if we had been even remotely intelligent about it, we would have been gearing up for this years and years ago.
For supposedly being the "smartest" creatures on the planet we certainly are making a disaster of the world in no time at all.

Want to know another thing that ticks me off? This new gas station in town just opened up. It is run by a mexican family(not that that matters). Last friday, as an effort to gain new customers, for three hours they offered gas at the price of $1.45/ gallon. Now, it is at $3.69 here right now. We all know they didn't loose any money on this, but they probably didn't make any either. I would figure they broke even on it. So they probably pay $1.45 a gallon. Of course I know that they have to make a profit too, just like everyone else. But heck, they make a little less, and the billionaire oil companies make a little less, and problem solved.
Seems like a presidential candidate would want to put a cap on the gouging.
And why in the heck they won't drill alaska and build more refineries is beyond me.

Usatian cars use a lot of fuel, try buying asian cars or hybrids and it will help. Better for the environment too.
The world needs to become less dependant on oil, not more, which is what will happen if we keep building oil refineries.

PUNISHER VETTE

I get 14mpg of premium in the vette.
About 45-50 on the motorcycle.
I'm not too worried about gas prices. I'm a natural resource and environmental science major too (resource ecology)... Guess i'm just floating through life and don't care for much other then when i can play COD 4 again... School just sucks the life out of me most of the time. And believe me they all try to teach how Bush and the USA is the worst country ever in terms of everything with their super environmentalist views.
I've read book on Chevron co. and how they mined oil in Papa New Guinea with great care and environmental consideration and they actually made more money that way due to not having to clean up spills and messes and accidents. Using helicopters to bring in equipment instead of destroying many trees to build roads. Making extremely strict rules and regulations with regards to safety of processing and transporting oil but the area in which it's mind in. Everything in their area was actually more health then before due to those regulations.
I would have no problem drilling in Alaska/the US/Gulf of Mexico as long as they do it more eco-friendly. Oil isn't beneficial to anyone but us but destroying everything to get to it is i think what most don't want to see. Alaska's huge oil area is right under the only breeding grounds for the caribou and if destroyed they will go extinct from that area. Leaving the people who depend on them for food to have to struggle as well.
If gas keeps going up i'll just be taking my motorcycle more and maybe even start Roller blading to work or something. Those Prisus's are NOT the answer. The destruction from the mining those battery's cause and all the effort it takes to build them and dispose eventually is not a solution. We need to work on more solar/wind/hydro power cars instead of this battery stuff.

Gas stations have negligible affect on gas prices.
And, we also won't drill in Alaska because we currently don't have to, we have the biggest oil reserves right now then we have ever had.

I get good gas mileage but I drive a lot. It took 60$ for me to fill up the other day. I plan to hopefully get a hybrid before I go off to college so it will be easier on me.

Imagine all the gas you could buy instead of paying a car payment. I just don't understand buying a new car to justify spending less on gas, unless it's something you're buying outright, like a used Geo Metro (50 mpg for under a grand!) or someone else is buying it for you.
I'm happy with my 20 year old "gas guzzler," cheap insurance, and no car payment. 20-26 mpg is fine with me!

He should learn to drive a stick anyway! My mom always said if you can't drive a stick, you don't really know how to drive - what happens if there's an emergency and he can't drive a stick? I know it's not likely to happen, but it's good to know! Take him out for some lessons! :)

Lol, I'd love if my Lincoln had a stick. Between 35 and 40 it can never decide if it wants to be in 4th gear or not, so I give it a little gas to shift it into high gear then two seconds later I have to slow down for somebody and it downshifts again - I bet I'd get insane mileage if I could shift it into high gear manually all the time, lol.
Learning a stick is scary, I'll be the first to say that! My uncle took me out in his Ford Aspire with manual steering and told me to drive to Reading to my other uncle's house 40 minutes away (this is when they were surprising me with my first Lincoln) I got in the thing, got on the highway and was so happy that I didn't stall! Then we got stuck in traffic and there I was, stalled in the middle of route 128 at rush hour. Talk about scary and embarrassing!! Not to mention the car was tiny but steered like a huge heavy truck, it took both arms for me to steer the thing, lol
Once you get the hang of it though, it's fun and it's easier to adjust your driving style to save gas. Everybody should know how, I don't know why they dont' teach it at driver's ed!

lol yea my sister in law taught me it took us 15 min. to go at a red light a cop even stoped to ask if we where ok lol talk about embarsment then there are speed bumps by my house and it was so frusterating to be stuck 10ft from my house trying to go lol that took about 10 min. but after 2 driving lessons i was doing good enough to drive by myself now it's nothing to drive it though i do wish i had power steering and a trunk hahaha

The switch to summer blends is coming up, that will raise the price around $.20 per gal.
I live in a big tourist area which means our gas prices will jump $.30 per gal at the end of the month and for the rest of the summer gas will go up on Thursday and drop on Monday
