I've noticed from time to time that some of my fish become darker in color. I have definitely seen this several times in my male krib and twice in my female. Does it necessarily indicate anything?

Stress perhaps?

That was my concern. I think I'll take my strips home tonight and test.

Strips are not accurate at all. Once they hit the air, the humidity immediately alters them thus giving you false results.

Agreed. Testing strips are not at all accurate. I mean, they may give you a general idea of where you are as far as the parameter is concerned but will not at all give you accurate results.

I know that in Keyholes, their colouring gets darker when they are aggressive/territorial, and often when they breed.

Depends on the fish. In most SA dwarf cichlids, not sure about west african ones, they become darker when they are stressed. Or it could be breeding colors or somethng. I really dont know much about WA dwarves.
