I just recently discovered and downloaded a Nintendo NES emulator and found a site hosting hundreds of ROMs (games) for it. I am now immensely enjoying replaying The Legend of Zelda and Metroid!

Anyone else enjoy retro gaming?

I find that I like old computer games better than the new ones, for example civilization, master of orion, populous etc. Even when they redo the old games and it's basically the same thing just better graphics, I still prefer the old one.

my original legend of zelda 2 on NES drives me nuts, you have to blow in it like crazy to get it to work, once i actually passed out from blowing to get it working

however, i bought one of those 2007 made NES that are only $60 and it runs smoother on it

Was it a torrent? If so, which? So many of them dont work, so it would be nice to get one that does.

Keep in mind that unless you own the games, downloading the ROMs is illegal.
But I have played some old SNES games. Starfox rules!

Some of the ROMs are now public domain, actually. Some are indeed still under license and are illegal to download. I still have a bunch of old cartridges though and am able to grab my own ROMs from those.

Just search under google and you'll find most anything you need.

EDIT: I guess I need to make it clear as well that I am NOT endorsing any illegal activity. If you (in general) download illegal programs or files from the internet that is YOUR problem, NOT MINE.

I LOVE old games :D I have an Atari 2600, an NES, and almost every Sega system (missing Sega CD, and Nomad, I had a Nomad but sold it) I think Sonic 2 for Genesis is my all time favorite game, followed closely by all three Ecco the Dolphin games (on Genesis and Dreamcast) I also have a PS1 but I don't really play it much.

I had an NES emulator, but nothing beats the real thing!

you can google free NES emulators, but like GM, i AM NOT responsible for anything you do, or for any legal action

The best way to get games you want is to buy or trade for the original cartridge then get the ROM yourself from a ROM reader or similar piece of hardware.

Those were the days, i loved Ninja turtles for NES, even though i think they made like 10 Ninja turtles games for it. I was just that age and Ninja Turtles > All

Any peice of software you would ever want can obtained very very easily. I just dont feel like writing a bit torrent walkthrough today. lol

All information should be free, including movies, games and books. And we are getting there, its just not totally legal yet. But thats not to say its illegal either....i love you bittorrent

Check out the Irate Gamer on you tube. That dude was awsome, I've been keeping up with him for about 9 months now.

ive always wondered this, ive seen people copy nintendo DS games onto regular memory sticks, and sell them on ebay, with like 75 games loaded on each, isnt that illegal?

I would think that to be illegal, yes, unless he had entered into a contractual agreement with the publisher for resale.

Yea thats illegal. But just like bit torrents, im sure hes riding a technicality. For example, maybe he claims he didnt originally compile the games, or bought it as is, etc etc. As long as its not really obvious, and u dont produce mass quantities, im sure its not gonna be worth it to take that guy to court.
