High and Low Nitrate readings.

Why do some people have very high NitrAte whilst doing the fishless cycle (myself, my tank is over 100mg/L as i type), and others for example MDMAN only registering 10-20mg/L.
I have seen many members with 10-20mg/L when cycling even after the cycle.
What causes NitrAtes to go so high in my case over 100m/L ???

Both my cycles have been WELL OVER 100mg/L.

Building up nitrites... that finally turn into nitrates. If you don't have any plants, there is no place for nitrates to go. They simply build up to really high levels.

I think its happening in my tank because some nitrIte eating bacteria are present, but not enough of them to bring the nitrItes down to zero yet.
