I was thinking of getting my six year old Guitar Hero for his birthday - I have a PS2. I think it comes with GH3 now as a bundle with the controller thing.

Anyone have any views good or bad before I buy?

Thanks in advance guys :)

If you are pretty liberal about music, then kick ass yes for you and your kid. It doesn't have any bad songs and songs that are pretty explicit are edited, but they have some bad ass metal on their besides the pop stuff that every one knows about.

It's fun for us adults for about a month or two, but the kids enjoy it for a while. It's better with two guitars because it makes the game more exciting.

Mostly older medal.. Some KISS I think..... I used to play it all the time before I had my surgery on my wrist... Unfortunately now I suck at it.

I love it!

Your 6 year old may not be able to get off easy for awile, but after you learn where all the keys are (takes about a week) he should be good. It's very fun, and there are no songs with bad language....but there are some songs in french and some other language so I can't be sure about that. :c2:

All I have to say is that this game ROCKS!!! Not to brag but I can beat basically any song on medium with using just my index finger and I can beat some hard songs too.

As for bad songs there are only 2 that I would think an average person to think there "bad" which are "belly of a shark" by the gallows and "Take this life" by in flames. other then that its an excellent game.

This game is so freak'n addicting!!!! I've always wanted to play the real guitar but never had the time or patience. I got this for christmas and have played it almost everyday. I have Guitar Hero 1,2,3 and the 80's.

6 y/o might have trouble... but, i've seen some kid on youtube jamming on that thing. H is way better than I will ever be. LOL

Edit (added): Oh... and I'll be getting a real guitar this year... because now I really just want to play the real thing. So, that might help kick off a new musician???

Hope that helps.

If it were my kid, i would buy him a real guitar. Around the same price, and come on whos ever gotten a girl by being able to guitar hero really well? lol
Its just my take on the whole guitar hero era thing, if im gonna spend over 100$ (for the game and guitar, its probably more) on a guitar its gonna be a real one.

The slayer song that is included is actually called Reign In Blood, not raining blood but its a really good song. Its seems even sony or whoever got it wrong. lol

here ya go : [Only Registered Users Can See Links.]

Give him a guitar, stick him on the floor, put one of slowhands early albums on, and just let him jam to it:thumb:

It depends on your 6 year old... It's fairly complicated to get the coordination down to play the songs... But I'm sure some kids could do better than I can. I think it's a great game for some family fun, but definitely get 2 guitars so you can play together.

We have a winner (and Turkey was right to)

Back to the thread at hand now, I just like to throw in a pop quiz reward from time to time:11:

Minor side note: My inbox was full, my bad on that its taken care of now. We should be able to archive stuff so i dont have to keep like 50 pms that have important info in them. I wonder how the people who sell stuff manage..

I actually prefer Derick and the Dominos. He swung by here and played a show last year.
