Plant - New Shoot ?

I have several live plants in my tank, i forget what they are. But one of them has grown a long stem an sprouted almost a new plant from that stem with what seems to be roots and everything. I will try to provide a picture.

Question is:

Is this a New Shoot, or Plant?
Will it die if i don't cut it off?
How do i cut it off, do i trim the whole stem or just the new plant?

Thanks, kinda new to plants, in my past experiences just plant em and trim em when they decay a little.

If the plant is a Sword plant then this shoot will be a new plant. I would wait until you have roughly 5 leaves on the new plant then remove the new plant from the stem and plant it.

Yeah its got a bunch of leaves and 2 or 3 roots as well.

I may chop her off and plant it this weekend.

the longer you wait the better its chances to establish itself,the best way to do it is to bend the stalk over and anchor the baby to the substrate and let it take root by itself with out cutting the stalk.
