Is this hole in the head? It's had these spots for a few days, I thought it was fungus at first, but they look more like flesh wounds.. The fish is also generally not well, not eating or moving much. How is it treated?

Might be a good idea to post the photos. they are not very good because it either wouldn't stop moving or was in an inconvenient spot.

He has one on each side of his body actually, and one of his pectoral fins is mostly gone too... so I'm starting to think it's not hole in the head and maybe just an injury from being stuck or something? I dunno, there doesn't seem to be any way to say this is definitely hole in the head.

I don't think I have seen HITH or HLLE in any pleco or pleco like species. It looks more like an open ulcer with fungus. May be a bacterial infection too.

yeah, its probably a injury, usually only larger cichlids are prone to HITH

Agree, it looks much more like a wound than any hole in head pictures ive seen before. What else is in the tank?

He was in my betta tank until a few days ago, but I never saw the betta being aggressive to it... It's currently in my community tank with a red tailed shark, pakistani loaches, swordtails, a molly and another bristlenose.
I'll do some extra water changes the next few days and give him some good food and hope it clears up. Thanks:)

He passed away today:(
I had a closer look at him too, he was sooo skinny, he prolly starved to death. He hasn't been eating properly for ages, in fact I never saw him eat,and I had him for 4 weeks. And what looked like fungus was a huge flesh wound, there was a huge chunk missing from his head. Poor thing, I liked him.

Aww I am so sorry that he is gone. Poor little guy. Well atleast he isn't sick or suffering from whatever his issue was.

Sorry to hear the bad news man! it sucks, I lost 5 BNs myself at one point. There is nothing you can do sometimes!! If the other lad is alright, I am sure it was just a bit of bad luck!!
