ohh ok... jst making sure I could add tap straight to tank...
tht will be perfect... I paid like 25 bucks for 50feet well worth the price... still havent tried it out but only by thinking I dnt need BUCKETS its worth already...
One time I was doing a water change and I flipped a 10 gallon container on the floor FULL OF WATER.... it was a mess...

Yep just try to add the conditioner directly in the stream as the water is going in.

Uuummmmm, I know what you mean, lol. Pythons just make wc's so much easier. I HATED lugging buckets back and forth.

Got it right, I just (due to many tanks at one time) make sure I flush the water out of the python from one tank before I go to the next. Just be careful and don't get lazy like I did. I was putting the H20 back in,.. went to do sometihing else and floored the place. H20 all over.:c3:

Just keep in mind if you have a disease in one tank it will be transferred to another if your Python is not flushed. Thank goodness, I never had this happen to me, but advice I feel should be passed on.

I dont trust my tap water enough to pull off something like that, i always pre treat my water. If you have a big tank get a plastic bin and fill it will water so you always have fresh water around to use. You can just syphon it from that into the tank. Cover it if you have animals so you dont get any hair in it.

I agree with Turkey. If you are on city water I'm not sure it is a good idea to add the water to the tank without conditioning.

if you live in the city, you have 30min-1hr before tapwater does harm to the fish, so you have time to add conditioner after

here they treat the crap out of our water, and last year for a month i accidentally used a bacterial product instead of water conditioner, my fish were fine

I would think that as long as you get the conditioner in while the tank is filling (or immediately afterwards) that you'd be ok.

I love my python!

After I fill the tank up I add conditioner right into the tank......
However I have an RO/DI system I use for all my fish, so I probably don't even need to treat it.

I don't recommend doing that with normal city water, unless you have a small tank that fills quickly and you can get the conditioner in fast.

Gelo,

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for your python? You mentioned $25 for 50ft...was that $25 EXTRA for additional hose or was that the total price?

I only have a 10 gallon tank so water changes aren't that big of a hassle yet. I do have a bit of an itch to get a bigger tank in the future and a python sounds like a worth while investment (right up there with the magnet glass scrubbers):hmm3grin2orange:

I have one of those "whole house filters" under the kitchen sink with a carbon filter cartridge in it. It runs to its own sepparate faucet. I do all my water changes using this filtered water & no conditioner at all. I've never had a problem. There for a while I was doing 50% water changes every other day for a couple weeks 'cause I had neglected it for so long.

I don't have a Python, but in Petco the other day the one with the 50ft hose was selling for $74.99. Later on in Wal-Mart, I saw the same Python system, with 50 feet of house, for $24.99
