So most of my test kits for my aquarium have those little plastic bottles that you just lightly squeeze in order to get a drop to come out which is fine.

So my phosphate test kit has one of those and a glass bottle that instead of a almost nipple like lid is more of a flat top with a hole in the top. You just have to hold it upside down for a second or two and wait for a drop to come out... only problem is i always get more then 1 drop, or can't bring it out of the way before the next drop comes, isn't very reliable on the amount being dropped in(big drop/small drop)...

Whats the purpose of keeping it in a container like that? i'm guessing it corrodes plastic but they can't find a better dispensing form for it?

I find it's easier if you hold the bottle at about a 45° angle. The drops come slower and fall off the lip of the bottle. It's also quicker to get it back upright, so no lost drops.

Another thing to be careful about ... when you open the bottle, take the lid off straight. If you sort of roll of off to the side you can catch the plastic part that makes the drops and tear it off. Inadvertently spilled half a nitrate test kit the other day like that, so be careful!

Yup, those are the same as mine. The 45° thing works fine.
