After I broke my diffusor last weekend, I had to invent something to replace it. My DIY diffusor is as good as the one I bought and simple to make:
Just squeeze as much filtersponge as you can into a tube (the more sponge, the smaller the bubbles). Cut away the rest of the sponge, so that you have it completely in the tube. Then install it into the tank with the opening of the tube watching the water surface.
If you have done it well, there shoul emerge very tiny bubbles of CO2.
