Usually once they are sexually active they will breed super quick. They just need to be conditioned with a period of cold temperature simulating winter and then a slow temperature rise to simulate spring thaw. I didn't do commons but I had some imported chinese fancies that I bred. Would use a breeding mop with is just a cloth like nylon tied at the end to make a fake plant type thing for the goldfish. The male will chase the female nudging her vent till she gets exhausted. Then the female will scatter the eggs all over the mop or any plants in the tank and the male will come along and release sperm on them. You can also hand spawn the fish but with a common I think that might be a bit more difficult. The eggs then need to be moved away from the parents or they will get eaten. You should have fry in a short while, then you have a whole new world of fun.

Here are some links to some good goldfish websites for breeding.
