Should I get rid of it?

My golden snail went to the top of the tank just above the waterline and laid a pile of eggs, looks like about the size of my thumb brown/grayish in color.

Should I get rid of it I don't want hundreds of snails I don't mind a few.

A few will always spawn. Once those eggs incubate you will have hunders in no time. If you don't want alot I would get rid of them...

in my own opinion i think you should get rid even if you kept a few they will spawn again and you would have loads again,
