I have a 7g long tank, and I plan to put platys in it. How many?
also, do males fight each other if its all males? Or if I choose females, will they be preg when i get it from the lfs? If so, will she continue to have fry forever, cause I can handle too many fry in a 7g obviosly

Femaleds will continue to breed forever if there's a male in the tank, but if you get all females they will have about 3 or 4 batches of fry each before they run out of stored sperm. But then it's very important to seperate the male fry before they reach sexual maturity so they won't get the females pregnant again.

I say 3 females. Platies are big waste producers and they eat non-stop.

I wouldn't put platies in there at all. They get too big, produce too much waste and are too likely to jump out of the tank or something. All 'round, a bad idea IMO.
As a grow out tank for platy fry ... sure. You could even put the pregnant female in there for a short time ... but for just adults, not a very good idea.

Is it your "long, long, long" 7 gal tank? If yes, I don't think you can put platies in there... There won't be enough place for them to move around... They grow quiet large for a long, thin tank...
If you really want to put fish other than fy in it, take small fish, perhaps, endler of microrasbora...

Well, yes, if you want your fish to be truly happy don't put platies in there at all, but like I said, if you can plan for the fry you should be able to squeeze some in there.
However, that being said, you can pick up a 15 or 20 gal for $20, why not just go get one?
