I was in the middle of taking out a couple buckets of water from my newly setup 55 when my neighbor stopped over. I took the end that goes in the bucket and just tossed it in the tank and went to chat with her.
After half an hour, she goes to leave and I notice water in the hallway. Yup! The tube come back out of the tank and about 53 gallons were on my bedroom floor! The fish had so little water they were laying sideways in the tank, the pumps were running dry and the heater was red hot. I don't know if it went into my neighbors apartment yet. I've heard no screams coming from there!
Then I look in my other 55 gallon tank and see my little male Firemouth has been killed! I have one small male that is very, very mean and he's the one I suspect. Altho both the same size, the remaining one is just meaner than a junk yard dog. I wouldn't mind having a couple more females but I can't tell the difference in them. I have one male and one female now, both paired with other firemouths, and they look identical and are the same size. One male and one female so I may just leave well enough alone and get no more.
So sorry about the fish!
And all that water! OMG! Did you manage to get it cleaned up?

I agree with turkey, hobbs. With all those fish tanks and having someone below you, you should have a shop vac!!

haha. The other week I was changing sponges on my canister filter. I took the plastic clamp off the output tube and forgot about. 4am the hose came off the spray bar and started spashing water all over me. That was a perfect alarm :hmm3grin2orange:.

Let's just say that I jumped from the shower this morning and then remembered I didn't have one single towel left to dry myself with. Not even a %$(*&#@ dish towel! I used every towel (and I have tons) to soak up the water yesterday. Had to strip my bed, as well, because the bedskirt and bedspread were wet half way up. (The water didn't raise that high but the material sucked it up.)
I moved my loaches from the firemouth tank last night so one of them doesn't end up dead, as well. I may have to tell that small one Adios!
Fortunately, these apartments are all ground floor! I can walk on the floor today without the water swishing up over the top of my shoes and have 3 fans going on it. Filters and heater still work.

Ouch roughly 200 litres.....Thats pretty bad. I hope you dont have a wooden floor or laminate or something like that, and that you have been fast enough to mop up the water.
Get yourself something like a room drying machine, I mean an equipement that helps to get rid of dampness in walls and so. Otherwise it can be quite expensive. Lets hope the water didnt kreep into the walls. I really cross my fingers.

Sorry to hear of the big mess LH, and the loss of your firemouth. Shop vacs can be life savers. Maybe you should put a bath towel in one of those glass cases with a sign "Break in case of an Emergency"
