Hi Im Smooth New To This Site I Will Be In The Next 2 Months Starting My First 80 Gallon Fresh Water Aquaruim The Fish Im Going To Do Is African Cichlids I Want To Do Assorted And Mix Them Up To Be Very Colorful Im Open To Suggestion.

I Have 1 Question I Brought I Bag Of Gravel And I Bag Of Crush Coral And A Small Bag Of Color Gravel Is That Ok I Read There Must Be 1/4 Inch Of Gravel For The Base. Im Open To Suggestions And The Filtration I Brought Is A Fluval 405 Is This Enough Filtration For A 80 Gallon Tank??

Its ultimately up to you on how deep you go with your gravel/substrate.

Yup, some people opt to use no substrate at all. Easy to clean, looks crappy if you ask me though. I perfer to use about twice as much gravel in the back to make a nice slope, it gives the effect that theres alot more gravel in the tank than there actually is, and keeps my corys from disappearing in the back all time. It also its good for hiding sponge filters and similar submerged/bury-able equipment.

The rule of thumb I go by is 2 inches minimum, 3 inches or more if you want plants or have inhabitants who will move the substrate around a bit.

I think the fluval will do well.
Also, since you are using crushed-coral, your tank's ph will be more to the requirements of cichlids.
I've heard that the reccomended amount of substrate in a tank is one lb per gallon.
