Well, the clam I bought seemed like it was doin well, and then up and died on me. I'm taking a sample of water to my lfs to have them test for something I couldn't find. I'm kinda bummed, but also somewhat happy that I've had my tank up and running for several months now and this is the first death..
Man do dead clams smell...

do they ever smell! ive had one coral die on me, and this was about 6 months ago, when i had the 2ft long hair algae. my brain coral got burried in the algae, starved of light, and died. by the time i found it, the brain had gone pale white and rotted, when i took it out it smelled NASTY

just thought about it, how much light do you have? that might have been the cause of death
That's exactly what I was thinking, Cocoa. Most clams, except maybe Hippopus (rather ugly) require T5 or MH lighting. Not to mention they suck up Calcium and alk. If you let that get too low, it's sure to die and cause other problems as well.

yep, thats right, they need high lighting and large mature tanks 55g+, im thinking that was the cause
