And I had my nose in the computer and missed it all!

I assume she did this yesterday after that big tank cleaning because I saw her going to this end of the tank and stealing another firemouths cave. And I do see some white eggs so I would say they've been here since the tank cleaning yesterday.

She's a busy girl right now trying to keep 9 silver dollars and 5 loaches at bay. The rest of the firemouths are not stupid enough so they stay back.

What did I say Hobbs??? A few days ago:19: :19:

Congrats, you will have a hell of a good time, and dont worry, even if no baby will survive, this spawning will be followed by many more.

By the way I never caught mine in the act,. either they wait till I have left, or they do it in the late evening or very early morning.

Man I whish I could witness that event. I once watched Discuss spawning, really interesting.

And for the spawning in caves or flat rocks or so. I once found eggs on a nice big leave of a "Nymphaea lotus"

Less of them this morning. I assume some got eaten unless she moved them. I'm trying to figure out what angle she got herself into to lay them here...in the back corner, just off the substrate. If any of these eggs survive, I'll have to change the name of her mate from Lil' Boy to Big Boy.
:11:

I also have some baby shrimp!!!!!!

The eggs are gone! Most likely these big silver dollars couldn't be held back away from them. They were great at getting to my angel eggs, too.

I figured with all the big boys and gals in the tank that the caviar wouldn't be around long.... Sorry about the eggs Lady but at least you got a pair in there now. You could seperate them and make a baby factory. Fry equal store credit. Store credit equals more tanks...Yeah!!!!!!

Dont worry Hobbs, Firemouths are clever fish. Next time they will find a saver place for their eggs. And now they have licked blood and found out about the fun they had, there will be lots and lots and lots and always bigger clutches:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: Believe me, it all happened in my tank.

Just call this event a warm up and training session.

Agreed! A spawn is always awesome, even if the Fry don't make it.

I believe the other pair also spawned because, altho I can't see the eggs, they are very aggressive today. They might have the eggs in the cave or even in the sand behind the rocks. But, their aggression tells me they have something back there.

My parrots also spawned today. Wow. 3 spawns and new shrimp in two days.

Congrats on the spawn Hobbs, I was sorry to hear that the eggs are no longer there. Better luck next time.

Actually it's probably a good thing as this tank is much too crowded right anyway. I need to move these Silver Dollars out of there. They have gotten too big to be sharing a tank with my firemouths now much less having a fry swimming about.

My other pair has kept up with their aggression, as well. I believe they have some eggs in their cave. We'll see, won't we?
