Hello eveyone.

I've heard many rumors about Quick Cure wiping out the bacteria in the biofilter. Has anyone had this personally happen to them? I've used Maracide in the past without any side effects to my biofilter. My LFS was out of Maracide so my dear fish friend who works there told me to use the Quick Cure, its just as good as the Maracide(both contain malachite green).

And if Quick Cure does damage my bacteria in my biofilter, what can I do to help alleviate that problem? (no bacteria additives, those are bad news)

Thanks for any input.:11:

Ive used quick cure for years on several tanks with great success with no problems what so ever.BTW why do you feel bacteria additives are bad news?

I love Quick Cure and it has never harmed my bio filtration. Quick Cure is what I reach for when the need arises.

I had used a bacteria additive when cycling my tank in the very beginning. It actually had "mini cycled" instead of truly cycling. I've heard of it happening to other people, and then it happened to me. Apparently within a few days my new tank mini cycled and started growing algae and giving nitrate readings. Sounds good but it actually set the true cycling of my tank back 2 weeks. By the time it truly cycled the proper way, I had an enormous nitrate reading and had to do several water changes to set things right.

Now since I've used both the Maracide and Quick Cure, I'd recommend to all to use the Quick Cure. I had raised the temperature of the tank to 82 degrees, added salt, and had used the Maracide at first. A little over a week later, my fish had more spots and my bottom dwellers started flashing as well. It seemed like I was making no progress. Then I used the Quick Cure. Two doses later, they looked alot better than a week on Maracide. I was a little disappointed because the Maracide is supposed to be the next revolutionary step in fish care but the Quick Cure (which is older and cheaper) seems to work much better. The only draw back of the Quick Cure compared to Maracide is that it stained the things in my tank very dark blue. But hey, that's a small price to pay to effectively rid my tank of Ich and to save the lives of my fish.:c3:
