Inspired by John's (JHill) last photos I'd thought I'd share some of my own and see what you all thought of them - my wife and kids walk past them 200 times a day without a second glance ... its nice to get an opinion once in while for a confidence booster :)

How can anyone not look at them? I think Discus is the most beautiful fish there is. When I look at them, they almost make me want to cry! OK......I'm a weirdo. I guess if I had them I'd be walking around the house sobbing all the time. :)

Your discus are stunning, I also love mine, and also think along the same line as hobbs, I think they are the most beautiful fish and should be enjoyed, how anybody could walk by and not pay attention to this beautiful fish I will never know. When my parents stop by my father is absoultely fascinated at how beautiful they are.

Have you had any problem keeping the solid blue with the red melons? Asking since I have considered getting those two but have heard that the reds (melons) can be more aggressive than the solid blues.

Thanks, Ed ... I feed them alternate days with either Tetra Colourbits and frozen blood worms. They also get live brine shrimp or blood worms at the weekend if they've been especially good to me :)

They were awful and used to fight like cat and dog when I first got them, Will, but as I increased the group to 6 (originally 7 but we won't talk about that) they have calmed down a lot. They still argue amongst themselves on occasion (especially when its feeding time) but have done each other no harm. I didn't know that melons were more aggressive but you are quite right, I watched him this morning for a while and he does tend to think he is the boss (which might of course mean that he is a she - hehe).

I love the blues though, he is the biggest fish I have and I think that helps him to stand up for himself :)

SC, I just wanted to comment that a lot of people seem to have great success with Tetra Colorbits. Did it take you long to get you fish to take them or where they being fed that by the breeder?

... probably a week of starvation when I decided to hold off on the blood worm. I'd decided that they needed variety and actually tried a different brand of discus sinking pellets first but they just refused to eat that - neither, as it turned out, would the rest of my fish!

Now they have a variety of 2 foods. Not very adventurous I'll be the first to admit but I didn't realise they were so picky when it comes to food - otherwise Imight have gotten an oscar instead :)

Thanks guys ... though my Discus are not currently talking to me as I had to move my 80g to a friend's house for a couple of weeks whilst I move house. I was worried about the move but after 24 hours they look the same as they ever did. I'd read lots of horror stories of Discus getting stressed easily but managed to get away with it. Until I have to move the tank to the new house in 2 weeks of course ...

Anyway, thanks for the kind comments ...and I hope you get some good ones, Panger - how many/what types are you getting and what setup will you have?

My husband, 2 boys, and myself always watch our fish and I love mine but I have to admit they have nothing on yours..... I cant believe your wife and children have no interest, I guess our gain because you share all your pictures with us...

Wow, nice fishyies.
Smack your wife and kids and tell them to slow down and look.
Maybe a little native american flute music and a lzyboy next to the tank will help

Where did you get your fish from?

I can't understand how they could just walk past. I would be infront of your tank all day you would have to call the police to get me out of your house. lol!!!!
