Congrats on the master test kit. Feels good to have one! I finally got one when I set up my 42 gallon and started cycling it. Just recently picked up a KH test kit.

You need not test for the high pH and you can assume now your pH is 7.6.......same as mine.
Do not dip the vials into the tank water but scoop out a bit of water and pour into the vials. Let each test sit about 5 minutes for an accurate reading.
You go girl!

I use a plastic spoon to take water sample from the tank, the spoon store under the tank for water testing purpose only. I can fill up to the line easily and don't have to dip the vials into the tank.

Not sure why this would be a problem either..
Maybe if you have something (cleaning solution) in the vial (not that you would clean your vials with anything but water)..
Little help, Hobbs?
I'm going to use an eye dropper and dip it in tank..

I spoon the water from the tank and pour into the vials, it help to get accurate, dip the vial in I tent to have to get a little more or pour a little out and keep doing that over and over.

Cause for celebration!!!
I just dip mine in about 6", you can scrub it out in tank water occasionally if you want I guess, or treated tap water.

and keep doing that over and over.
Yeah, that's what I want to avoid by getting a 5 ml dropper, so I can just squeeze out exactly the amount I need ONCE..

AHHH!! Because you don't want any dried up chlorine from the tap water you used to rinse out the vial to get into the tank!
Got it, thanks, Nick..
AND the solutions in the testing solutions are highly toxic to fish..
I guess you don't want to risk traces of that getting in your tank, either..

Hobbs is telling you to not dip your vials because of the risk of contaminating you tank water with testing chems.
