I have a 10 gallon cycled and I want to get a male betta for it, what other fish can I put in it that the betta will not kill or harass???

Can try shrimp, otos, or cories.

Edit: It mainly will depend on the personality of the betta. Some can go successfully go in a community tank, while others need a tank all to themselves.

I think corys may be OK with a betta.

Its worth a try. Make sure the cories go in the tank first. Then add the betta. But make sure you watch how cories and betta interact, because it might not work.

Cories it won't matter if you move the danios yet. Move them before the betta goes in.

Personally I would add the cories, leave the danios in, and put the betta in. Chances are, he won't bother either one. But if he does, you have a back-up plan with your other tank.

I wouldn't go for peppered corys in a 10G they do get big for corys. Some nice swartz are skunks would be nice. As for betta try to find one that is kept with other mid-top swimmers. There less likely to be aggresive.

Cories are fine. But get at least 3...they get lonely if they can't feel like a school.

It's not usually the betta that is the aggressor in community tanks. It's usually other fish that attack the fins of the slow moving betta.

However, try to avoid any fish that look like a male betta - to avoid an aggressive response from the betta.

AND try to avoid any other aggressive fish that may pick on the betta!

Other than that, I haven't heard or come across much in the way of incompatible fish.
