Hey you guy's I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue. I have Rena XP filters on 3 of my tanks. I have noticed that after a couple of months of running they all start to get algea or something in the intake and output hose's. Little spots. anyone else have that problem???

any hose you have aquarium water running through will get that. Its a bacteria, the same stuff thats beneficial in you filter. It can be lessened somewhat by using black tubing, but not much.I clean all my tubes out twice a year.

That's perfectly normal. It's just more noticable on cannisters with clearer type hoses.

I first noticed those spots around the time my tank was fully cycled. It is nothing to worry about.

You won't really be able to see the nitrifying bacteria. If any light can get through (it must if you can see the spots) it is probably algae. This is fine in low amounts, but a lot can cause clogging and lower flow problems. At work we have to clean out tubes like that because java moss gets in and completely clogs it.
