Got a 36W CFL for my 33G tank. As I am going to stock with convicts I want to know are there some low light (1W/G for 12 hours a day), low tech (sand substrate, no co2, no ferts) plants that can grow at peace in my tank and also not take a beating from my convicts?

My suggestions - Java moss on my driftwood, amazon swords and may be banana plant?

Need your suggestions, comments, reviews.

TIA
Sudhir.

The sword probably won't last in that low light. The moss and fern would be great though. I have 3 banana plants that did OK in low light, now that i am around 4W/gal, the banana plants especially have gone buck-nutty and are sprouting 1 foot tall shoots. I would get 1 or 2 banana plants and see how they respond. If they grow well, go for it! Post some pics if you can when you get it up and planted.

OH! Also you may be able to grow some Wisteria in there too. Buy a bundle and give them a shot. I would let them root for a week or 2 in the substrate if you buy cuttings before adding the convicts though.

potted plants are the best way to go in a tank with diggers.

Anubis plants i think are the best plants ever. Look super cool and don't require much light. Check them out.
