What are some good dwarf Cichlids? Do they always tear up aquarium plants and rearrange aquatic furniture?

Definately not... your thinking of the bigger cichlids.. dwarfs will not touch the plants or any decorations at all. Good beginner dwarfs are Cacatouides or Borelli as they are easily happy in tap water (higher PH)

also look into rams.. starting out with them small and getting a book helps you out alot. All dwarfs besides some apisto's are good for planted aquariums they actually end up needing the set up.
