what kind are they?

What kind of snails do you usually end up with in your tank off of plants and stuff? I have some loachs in my 29gal and want some snails that can live in there and that they can snack on to keep the population down and to give them something else in their diet. I currently have no snails at all in any of my tanks....so I need to know what kind to get. thanks.

Most pet stores will not have them for sale or even know what they are. Here is a site with good information:

Maybe you just go to your petstore and watch the tank with the plants in it very carefully. If you find any snails, just ask for them, here in Germany they are given to you for free. They are usually happy to have them in sombody elses tank, so just try it.

Mine love pondsnails, but I currently have a smaller, flatter variety which my loaches won't touch at all. Kinda sucks, because I put them in there for the loaches, but now they are breeding out of control:(
