Well the turn for the worst today in the texas cichlid tank. The female has been wanted to breed fo around a week now and the male has refused and refused. I have done everything to get them to breed. Brine shrimp, lowered water temperature, slight water changes daily no luck. Today she had enough. I came home to find them fighting. I tried to seperate them but could not. She killed him. I am so frustrated right now. I immediately put the green terror back in with her and now she and the GT have the 55 gallon alone.

Nope... The 55 gallon will stay for one texas and 1 GT now... They were a pair and had already spawned is what makes me even mader...

you know better than me that for aggressive fish like them you should always be ready to put in a divider.

They had mated and produced spawn in the fish store. I bought them as a pair and took them away from the growing fry...

What could be the matter with her then. Gosh I hate having a fish that is that aggressive. You'd think she'd have accepted him by now.

Well thats the thing hobbs, each fish is different, and especially with the cichlids you never know. One could be nice for 5 months straight, then all of a sudden turn mean on the other tankmate(s). As of now my oscar and firemouth are so-so, my oscar likes to just chase him away for a second like "get away from me dude" and goes on his way. lol. But yea Jamie, maybe try a pair of jack dempseys? Gives you another excuse to get another tank LOL.
