I purchased 3 Green Terrors 2 months ago all about 1.25 inches. I know for sure 1 is a female and one is a male. The third has no lump (the male has a large lump) but colors are bright, brighter than the female. I've seen the male doing the mating ritual with both fish and I've seen him chase the 3rd as well(majority of the time). He's been trying to get her attention from day 1!

Just in case it was 2 males I added a barb for a dither fish. The barb is fast it's like it's not even in the tank(to the GT's). My son noticed there depositors were out the male and female, so I did a 30 % water change and cleaned out my filter 8am this morning. 3pm this afternoon she was in a clay pot fanning eggs. I missed the whole thing, I hope he fertilized them !

When ever he gets close she chases him away, doesn't look like she is eating either. They are 3 inches maybe 3.25, didn't expect this(eggs) till they were bigger, if at all !

My female green terror has just laid eggs for the first time as well. Cleaned my tank yesterday at 12 pm and when i returned at 9 pm I noticed the eggs! At the moment she is hovering around fanning them though she will eat food that floats her way so she is still feeding. This is really unexpected as up until now the female always seemed to get bullied by the male. Now she seems to be the more dominant one and chases the other fish away from the eggs including the male.

Thanks everyone! My eggs have hatched and now the female and amle are looking after the fry which are hiding among a rock. Is it necessary that I feed them or will the parents do that? I find it awkward to get crushed flakefood to them as they are not in a separate tank. Any suggestions?

In a few days their yolk sac is consumed and then you must start feeding them immediately, 3-5 times a day.

Ok thanks i'll do that then. Any tips on how to get the food to the young ones without the other fish getting it. I could just put some near them by hand I guess though that would worry the parents. I have also thought in using a net to put the food in? How do you guys do it?

newly hatched brine shrimp is a suitable food for fry in first days. you can get brine shrimp eggs and hatch them yourself. theres lots of instructions on the internet if you don't know how to.
also you can use crushed fish food. it should turn like powder otherwise the fry can't get them.

other fish won't get fry food because its too small but in my experience feeding the fry is easier when they are alone.

u can use a small syringe type of medicine dropper with the food in some water, squirt it in the general area

Ok I will get brine shrimp and hatch them and in the mean time use the crushed flake food with a syringe. Are your fry doing well?

I also have tinfoil barbs and a weather loach in my tank with the green terrors. Would now be a good time to give these away or do you think I would be ok having them together with the green terrors breeding. My tank is only 55 gallon so I guess its inevitable that the tinfoil barbs will have to go eventually.
