What is this white dust kind of stuff which builds up on the top of the aquariem (around the corners where the glass is gone)

Im thinking its like fish food or something, but I have no idea how it gets there, its like crispy and if you touch it, it will just break off and fall.

Any idea?

I think that what you describing is the depositing of chalk that are deposited there by water when it dries. Use a weak acid like vinegar to remove it successfully.

You might however also be referring to dried up algae and it is hard to say for sure without an image of what you meen.

it may be from the water, but I dont know how the water would have got there... its only in the corners where the glass touch another piece of glass...

Yea probably is...

so would it be harmful if knock it back into the tank? or should i just like clean it off whenever it builds up?

I am sure it's just mineral deposits from evaporating water. It wouldn't really hurt anything putting it back into the water as it will just dissolve.
