I found a proven breeding pair of Keyhole Cichlids and they are asking me how much I would like to pay for them. Anyone have any idea?

I dont have a clue, but its always a good idea to shoot them a really low ball number first, like waaay low. If they are asking you how much you would like to pay they probably dont have a real good idea of whatthey should cost either.

They aren't very much. I would not pay for shipping for them, for sure.

They are local. What the person said was that they were not looking to sell them, but saw my wanted ad (on the Alberta forum) and would sell for the "right price". I offered $30 for the 2, will see what they reply. The other aspect is I don't know how easy they are to find in stores or how much they cost there, and I wanted to end up with a pair so I would have to buy multiple juveniles to watch them grow.

Thats just about perfect then, you can find most rare fish online, but like hobbs was saying shipping gives it to you right up the...well you know. And most places will charge more than $30 for shipping if u buy more than 30$ worth of fish....yea i know, retarded. Sounds like 30$ is the right offer if you really want these, i certainly wouldnt go higher than that as you are more paying for availability than for the fish itself.

If you can get a proven pair that is cool.... I would have went like 20 or so but hey whatever works..... Really it is upto the buyer how much they are willing to pay. I have sold Oscar babies to a fish store in Hawaii for $1.50 and then to the same store for $2.50 as he was low on stock. It is really how much you are willing to pay to get a pair. Also just becuase they are paired before doesn't mean they will respawn in a new tank. I have had my paired texas cichlids that spawned and had fry at the fish store over a month now and they stay away from each other in my 55 gallon.

A good point. Two fish doesnt guarantee fry.
