Yesterday my wife and I were getting ready to leave work around 4:00. I have a fish room next to my office and in the fish room I have two 125 gallon tanks that I purchased a month ago (new) to house all my fish from my 300 gallon when I changed that into a Tanganyiken tank. I also have a 180 gallon tank, 40 gallon and 30 gallon. All three large tanks are heavily stocked because I had a lot of fish in my 300g.
I went in to feed the fish before I left and my wife came in to see some Apisto fry I had when in front of our eyes we heard a crack and water came gushing out of one of the new 125s!!!
Along the entire front bottom of the tank, along the black edging water was flowing out. It filled and empty 20g tank I had in a few minutes. I was in panic mode, grabbed a net and started flinging fish all over into other tanks. The tank had all my Pearl Gouramis, Breeding Bristlenose, large group of Rummynose Tetras, group of Corys, Ottos, Apisto Cacatuoides, Bolivian Rams and I can't think what else but you get the idea.

Now I have a heavily stocked 125 that I'm worried will also break and a 180 that is ridiculously stocked. I called the LFS I bought the tank from and today I have to call “All Glass”. I have some compatibility problems in the 180 so I hope to get something resolved today.

The tanks seal cracked along half of the bottom front on the tank. “ALL” the water emptied out, unbelievable. I am so glad I was standing there when it happened. If not, I would have come in this morning to an empty tank with all dead fish.
BTW the room is carpeted and the water ran out into the hallway, into a bathroom, storage room and my wife’s office.

Just wanted to share, thanks for listening.

Oh my!! I hope things get resolved. That stinks that you have to deal with their defected problems, will they also pay for the clean up? Or will they say TS the chance you take when having a tank?

Sorry to hear about the disaster and I hope there are no damages.

Good luck with finding another tank, one that doesn't break this time.

Oh that totally sucks! I'm so glad you were home when it happened and were able to save the fish, that's one good thing at least. Fingers and toes crossed for you that whomever you purchased your tank from will come through and give you a new one and perhaps offer something for the damages.

So happy for you that the fish are ok.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Hopefully you get this issue resolved quickly. Not to throw dirt at the lfs where you bought it, but which lfs did you purchase the tank. Any good lfs should replace the tank if it's only a month old and then they deal with Glass Cages. I know of a couple of people who bought big tanks with circumstances like yours from Petsmart. Petsmart replace the tanks no problem at all and then they dealt with the manufacturers.
