when i first set up my tropical tank, i purchased 10 neons, but i dont think it was fully cycled, so i lost 4 of them.

Neons seem very fragile!

I don't think I cycled the tank well enough. I had done what the lad in the shop said. But obviously wasn't enough.
I put 6 in, I think 2 were just week, then the other 4 grew white dots, I think Ich, and then died. I hope we don't have a repeat!

They look so neat. I plan on getting some too in the near future, or cardinals (can't decide). How did you acclimate them and what's your temperature (water parameters)?

Keep us posted on how they do?

Good luck!! I :1luvu: my neons. They are one of 3 species of schooling fish we have in our 55g community tank (zebra danios and cory cats being the other 2), and they are just beautiful.

We keep a fairly acidic (ph 6.6 ish), soft water tank at 77 degrees F, and feed brine shrimp and tubifex worms in addition to flakes. They are really thriving!

Emm.. Turns out, even though I have Neon Tetras now, the ones which died were in fact Cardinal Tetras.

My bad!! :11:
