I have my female zebra danio isolated in a salt bath in my 5 gallon. I put 1tsp of salt per gallon. The e-book said to leave her for a week and then start doing 25% water changes. I've taken filter media out but the pumps still running to aerate the tank. Is this right? Should I put the ammonia chips back in or no? This is the first time I've had a sick fish :( Don't like it much! Can't see any discernable external illness except for the fact that she's quite large and swimming funny and kind of bent sideways when she's swimming and quite slow. She was easy to catch. I quarantined her to give her a break from the male who is always chasing her and just in case she was contagious. I think maybe her one gill just on one side may have been bleeding a little but I watched her and tried to see for sure but I don't know. It might have just been the flesh I was seeing. Anyway...she's looking and swimming better today and I'm not feeding her yet.

I just replaced about 30% of the tank with water. Here is the site where I found the info. [Only Registered Users Can See Links.]

I hope I haven't done irreparable damage :(

I doubt it....

That site is using teaspoons... just to make that clear. Which is what you stated.

1 Tbsp per 5 gallons.... is 3 Tsp. Which would be .6 tsp per gallon. I've seen this concentration totally screwed up all over the Internet. I've also read that fish can handle a lot more salt than either of these doseages.

However, I can honestly say, 1 Tbsp. per 5 gallon is the most common concentration.

Oh, thank you soooo much, I was really worried that I might've killed her, even though she does looks better! There's probably the right amount of salt in there, now, since I took some water out.
Thanks RainMan....LeeAnn...
