Many fish loose color while they sleep so they wont stand out to predators.

when you first fire on the lights fish go pale, its normal, they should recolor in a few minutes

He is fine my firemouths always used to lose their colors. It will come back to them... What are you feeding the firemouth. If you want a brilliant red to pop out try Hikari Cichlid-Biogold+ or NLS Large Fish Pellets.... Both of these include color enhancing ingredients and are great foods....

It's fine, mine done the same thing. Most fish also take about 10 min to fully wake up also.

My firemouths dont lose their red.. Even the one who is always chased around. I feed my firemouth NLS large cichlid pellets. Heres a picture of him. He is getting a lot of red. Kinda neat.
