A noob fish feeding question: Is there an easy way to ensure that all of your fish get fed fairly, or is this a game of survival of the fittest or piggiest? I started with 14 corys, then a week or so later added 6 angel fish. Easy enough, as corys got Hikari sinking wafers and angels got Hikari mico wafers.

Now that I have added to the tank 4 keyholes and 11 black phantom tetras and will be getting four more fish on Friday, I'm getting worried on how to make sure everyone gets enough to eat. The corys are still easy. I'm trying to feed the angels the plain Hikari first as they float a bit when not soaked in GarlicGuard and trying to feed the other fish a few minutes later the same micro wafers, but soaked in garlic guard as they sink quicker giving the angels less of chance of of vacuuming them up. Or, am i just worried about nothing?

Also, are angels known for picking or eating cabomba? Either mine are growing weirdly, or the angels are eating them. I see them picking at the cabomba, but I don't know if they are picking off bits of food for eating the damn plants.

Thanks!

Spread the food acrost the tank instead of one spot, if possible feed them a variety of foods, other than that i think u are over thinking it a bit unless some fish are keeping others from eating purposley, in that case you may need to remove them. Not sure about the angel questions i havent had any in a very long time sorry

Doesn't matter where you put it as the water flow takes it where it will. I add it to the calmer end of the tank but still it goes everywhere but still manages to feed everyone just fine.

i don't see it mattering much with the wafers. they are stable enough that if you place them in the tank provide a little more than normal. The cories will pick at them all day. They are not noctural though like most cats so feed the wafers early in the morning. H20 stable wafers from NLS are said not to muck the water up at all. The hikari microwafers I use don't either..

I float some flakes, wet my finger, put it in the flakes and stick it under the water to sink some flakes for the middle feeders, and then throw in the wafers after the bottom feeders catch the hint its feeding time.

You can also try turning your filter off a minute before feeding time so that you can put the food on the water where ever you'd like, without it circulating to one spot.

Feed a balanced diet containing live, frozen, and prepared foods. Also feed where the fish are at in the tank and not in a different spot then where they are at unless they are trained togo to a certian spot to eat.

shouldnt matter much. If ur fish is too dumb to go to the food, it dies and we call that natural selection in its purist form. As far as the h20 wafers i wonder how they work...*thinks*

I have a little ritual that I do. First I start off with some floating cichlid sticks. Then some Hikari floating pellets. While the bigger convicts are busy, I mixed a blend of krill and flake that gets thrown around by my return and the smaller ones get feed too. Then I have some sinking shrimp pellets that's an all out free for all for and when the first one hits the gravel, their done.

About every other day or three, I mix in blood worms and night crawlers for their live/frozen food.
