Knowing that these types of tetras almost look identical, which species would you pick for stocking a well mature planted aquarium?

I would probably choose cardinals since they look alot better neons and would brighten up a planted tank a bit more.

what's your pH, kH, and gH? I'd use those as determination. Cardinals are a little hardier, but if your levels are too high, I'd advise Green Neons.

If the parameters are fine, and you can find healthy cardinals, those are the prettiest, IMO.

It was just a opinion question, i'm not sure what I plan to get for my 20g planted though.

Well in my opinion, cardinals are better looking and would be my choice.

The Neon does have a more charismatic look to it.

I have just bought an aquarium and we read a book that said that neon tetras are better because they are easier to keep. Is this true?

Yes. Neon tetras usually are a little easier to care for.

Hi, I was thinking of putting some tetras in a new aquarium I have just bought and I wasn't sure how many I should put in as i wanted to put them with a couple of danios. Please help me my tank is about 40 litres.
Also, I was wondering if I could put a Kuhlii loach with them???
Thanx everyone,

Yes. You could keep a kuhlii loach with your fish.

I recommend that you get 6-10 tetras as they do best in schools.
