In my tank with the AC110's the water line at the top of my tank stays nice and clean. But the tank with the canister is always a mess from the water splash. Obviously I have hard water but I do hate that lime scale all the time.

What can I get, other than a spray bar, to prevent this? I even have the nozzle turned sideways to not splash against the front so much. I wish they was some kind of gizmo that I could use other than what come with the Fluval that would spread the water out move.

I would also consider a spray bar but afraid my hard water might clog it up all the time. Anything so the water doesn't pour out in one big splush all the time.

Hobbs, you could go with a spray bar but you could drill the holes out bigger, that way the chance of a clog is very limited.

Would completely submerging the nozzle work?

Good idea. I had problems with even those Emperors spray bars on those little filters getting clogged.

Are the spray bars pretty universal and fit my Fluval or do I need a special one? And do they attach by suction cups to the back of the glass? I've never seen one.

It would but remove the oxygen the fish need. That's how I set it up the first time and nearly killed all my fish.

You would need to check the diameter of your return hose. Shouldn't be too difficult to get one to fit. If all else fails you can build your own using some inexpensive supplies from Home Depot.

LH you can't get much harder water than the liquid rock in Saskatchewan. I have numerous spraybars and they have not even come close to clogging up with calcium etc. The fluval spray bars for the 04 series will fit on the 05 series

Actually, all you would need to do is drill a small hole in the nozzle and attach an airline. The water pressure will suck in air as well, same as a venturi on a powerhead.

Hard water deposits? You should see the mess on my 55 with the fluval 304. I have crushed coral substrate and add baking soda to the water for partials. Mineral deposits everywhere around the glass covers, and even a bit runs down the front corner where the current apparently splashes a few drops out from under the glass. The outside of the tank ain't pretty, but the fish are healthy.

I hate that, don't you. It distracts from the whole look of the tank. Everything is all nice and shiney and then there it is..............hard, white crud.
