busted ballast?

i have 2 36" all-glass fluorescent fixtures, i used them for only a few hours about 8 months ago and theyve been sitting alone since

i have a potential buyer for them, and one fixture works fine, but the other one has good lighting on the ends of the bulb but the middle of the bulb gets dark and flickers, i tried the bulb from the first fixture to make sure it wasnt the bulb, and it still flickered

is the ballast busted? are new ones expensive?

Sounds like a bad ballast. It's cheaper to buy a new fixture in many cases. Does it have a changable starter?

hmmmmm, dunno if it has a changeable starter.

this sucks, it has no reason to quit on me. they both worked fine when i bought them, and after 10 hours of use i upgraded lights and the fixtures have been sitting usused the whole time

guess i'll sell the busted one for a few bucks.
